weird little eco system

While walking in the gardens, I found clinging to a weeping paperbark branch this little ball of plants.
I've only seen one before. I thought it was a flower because it was all dried out but with this one you can tell that it was different from everything else. It was getting its water supply from the branch (well twig really) of the paperbark tree.
A weird little eco system all in a world of it's own, complete with spider and web!
Google wasn't any help. Does Anyone know what these little plants are? They remind me of bromeliads.

Canvas Shoes

Having been inspired by these shoes I showed in the last Friday Favorites, I set out to make a pair for myself. Nothing quite so fancy, just some owls.
Big W, Kmart and Target all have a selection of white canvas shoes but Kmart were the cheapest at half the normal price.
Cue sharpies and a led pencil to first trace my design.
Viola!! My new owl shoes.
You like? Well my friends did. I have now been commissioned to make shoes for all their kids, and my Mum wants a pair too.

nesting owls

Recently while hunting through some boxes, I came across a pack of fabric and buttons I had won in a giveaway about 5 years ago. Keeping it aside, I was determined to do with it what it was meant for all those years ago. Make an owl.
So along with a little 50cent basket from Salvos I put together a Mother and Daughter owl.
I'm happy with them, and glad to have put that basket to good use. They look great sitting up among my other owls.

book review: Good Mews

My new book, Good Mews by Kitty Chappell, is a perfect book for the Christian cat lover. I adored reading this book for the first, second and third time, as well as lending it out to several friends.
I cried, I laughed, and I totally recommend this book to anyone who loves kitty stories with a few Godly insights for inspiration. You can buy the book here with free postage!
